There is a lot missing ,to be sure......and the finished article wont be of high value..........IMHO,the forks and frame will end up as a custom......or parted out on ebay.

In the 1939 sales doc on Sheldons,it says you could have a 3 speed or a 4 speed for 1 pound extra.Tank looks a lot longer too in the sales pics.....The wd/co s were gutless,the wd/c s were hopeless ,so I can just imagine what a 250 sv was like....I remember arne schloss had a shed full of wd/c motors new that he used in mowers that he made.....Unfortunately arne did a naughty thing  and went to the bighouse......

Sometimes you can cure these types of leaks by cleaning out the crack/gap with acetone,then when the solvent is dry,use some wick in sealant to fill the space......Incidentally,I assume you know Enfield twins have two screws in between the cylinder bores,acessed from outside by two plugs.

i think its a 1931 model C 350sv........total loss,single downtube.....the 1932 appears to have a twin downtube frame.....and the 1930 has brampton forks.....so 1931......

If you took a young person of today and set them loose in the sixties,they would die of fright.......you actually had to do things for yourself,and if something wasnt right,you fixed it so it was....The current lot of classic bike owners under forty seem to expect everything to be perfect,or spent endless hours moaning about it on some forum....

The 1932 Mod C didnt have an oil sump....it was total loss .....But as mentioned a view of the timing side of the motor would be helpfull.

making your own flywheels isnt rocket science.....oxy torch and a bit of 1" thick plate.......another tip is matchless G3/G80 flywheels are 8" dia,stroke a bit short.......The racers use hard plate ,like Bisalloy 360 for flywheels,but I would think that mild steel would be OK for a rally bike .Add a current ebay Indian crankpin for about 10 quid,and youre well on your way.

might be a 1932 C model.....350cc..SV.........the other side of the motor would be handy.

Jap bike clutch bits are recognizable by the very shallow depth of the plates....in general ,of course,cause there are a zillion different jap clutches........The Commando is alleged to have a Coventry forklift clutch,but that wont be right,it will have only the plates .The P/S clutches work quite different to typical bikes....as the plates are applied by a single piston using oil pressure at around 300psi,and generally have a large central spring which holds the pack disengaged .The trannys are set up generally with two clutches together ,and run one engaged ,one freewheel,and a forklift tranny will have two sets of twp packs,forward /reverse,and high/low speed........giving two forward,two reverse speeds.

I cant see that the motor belongs.....nevertheless,I see a fair bit of value there .....especially if the girders and front wheel/guard are half way sound.....depends entirely on the asking........I once bought a cammy sq 4 and sidecar from a scrapyard for 5 quid,but that was a while ago.

It looks very solid for a bike part......,I suspect it may be part of a clutchpack from a powershift transmission from a tractor or forklift......the involute spline is standard on machine parts......i have saved a complete tranny s worth of bits from a Ford tractor,thinking to one day use them in bikes..........after all,the Commando uses a clutchpack from some sort of industrial transmission..........the plates will tell the story....machines usually have sintered bronze linings,and the plain plates are always slightly dished to reduce oildrag...In fact when the dishing is gone,the plates need replacement.

When I worked at Brisk Sales the last couple of British bikes we ever sold were Velo Thruxtons and 750 TT Interceptors.No one would touch them ,cause everyone knew the British industry was dying.....Imagine selling a Thruxton  new for $700,just to clear the last one.....The Enfields had massive power,but half came back with bent gearbox mainshafts from dropping the clutch for drag starts...........I remember we had a staff meeting with the business owners .......they explained how bad things looked,and how they couldnt get a franchise for any Jap bike,but they had managed to get a sub agency from Mayfairs for the little Suzuki 4x4s....that looked like toys.......which they were.....nobody thought they would sell.......they sold allright......Mayfairs went from flogging Matchies and Commando s to ride the Suzuki car boom,then the Suzuki outboard boom.....then sold the Suzuki car franchise back to Suzuki for $7 million.,then the outboard franchise for a million more.

The Newnes car books also have a chapter on the Albion gearboxes,and are far more common and cheaper  than anything bike related.The little lightweight 3speeder was used in a great many things,and you often still see them on small lathes.In fact Ive found some very hard to find boxes hidden on old scrap machine tools.

My favorite triton event was an el cheapo alloy front guard that broke away from the mounting screws and went round with the front wheel.....not right round....just far enough for a skid on the slippery alloy at 80mph.......fast forward,and I see tossers on ebay selling the same el cheapo guards...for 100 quid each...same rubbish ...
