It is your bike, so paint it what ever colour red looks right to you.

Never seen a Honda with 20", either 19" or 21". What year did they use the 20"?

Got out my Singer book and on page 117 is a picture of designer Leo Shorter with an OHC 'Nine' engine and I don't think the rocker would have fitted. I had seen inside my older sisters Nine saloon (English chassis with Aus made Flood Bros body) engine and pretty sure that rocker would have been too big to fit.
Would the rocker have had a needle bearing or brass bush in the centre of it?

I am surprised that those buildings are abandoned. Here in Australia most would be restored and lived in.

Are your pipes/baffles clean as a clogged exhaust will give symptoms of running rich. Is air filter clean?

The 6.8 is the compression ratio (as in 6.8 to 1) and has nothing to do with your psi reading (which is fine for a two stroke). A two stroke will never have the higher readings that you will get with a four stroke due to the gas reversal of the ports verses the closed valve of the four stroke.
Suggest you look for an air leak of the intake rubbers (try spraying some carb cleaner or similar around the rubbers and listen for an increase in engine rpm) and maybe check that the timing is correct for both cylinders.

Have you balanced the carburettors yet?

Nice little looking bike when it is all together.

I do the same with a half inch drill and socket on the Villers 7F on my firewood saw bench. Could be pulling the rope for 20 minutes with only a few backfires for the trouble. Lot to be said for 'electric' start.

I like your idea of the modern engine, but I am still interested for you to find the answer as to why it wont go as everything I would have done has not produced results. I will keep watching to see what you find.

I used a small hydrulic bottle jack to slightly (about 1/16") widen the frame to get the bushes past the worn lip on the frame of one of my restorations. Might be worth a try.

A lot of those type of old froggy bikes have been turning up here in Australia lately. Must have more of them over there than we thought to be worth while sending a container load half way round the globe.

Nice work. Hope to see it out on a run one day.

I applaud your persistence and would like to read of you getting it running.
If your saying the plug is wet after the short burst of firing, could the mixture be too rich and just drowning the engine?
Keep going, your nearly there.
