Hi Rex no not 2 inches before ratchet engages the ratchet turns the motor over its just that after starting I can pull the kickstart up into its normal position and the return spring seems slack and whilst on the move the kickstart falls back 2 inches I am guessing the return spring has worn over the last few ( 50 ) years I hope this may make sense to you, reading the manual it looks like I can get access to the return spring by removing the G/box outer case where the clutch cable hooks up ?

I have a T 100 68 and notice the ammeter needle  ( Lucas type) stays in the centre of the dial just fluctuating left to right very slightly even at cruising speed 50/60 mph,

with the engine running and multimeter on the battery I get a constant reading of 13 + volts am I to assume the ammeter has had its time looks like the original from 68 or can it be overhauled

PS after a ride the battery always shows in the region of 12.7 +

I hope a member can advise me I have a T 100 first registered 21-5-1969 frame No. H65380  engine No.H39492
am I correct in thinking that after 20-5-2018 I no longer need to tax or MOT my bike ? I have just received a letter from DVLA to say my bike must be taxed and MOTd ? or placed on SORN.

We have just moved from Spain to Wales after 20 years so I am very out of touch with UK legal requirements
   all input gratefully received.

I have just become the proud owner of a Triumph T 100 S 1968 I want to do an oil change on engine/gearbox/primary
I am clear about the engine oil but how do I change the gearbox oil ?
there is a nut underneath the motor which \I think is also a gauze filter does this drain the g/box then is there a level outlet for the G/box ?
as for primary is the chain tension nut at the rear of the left side case the correct drain plug ?
also am I correct that the g/box takes hypoid 90 oil and the engine and primary take 20/50 oil

all input gratefully recived
