I have been given a 7hp two stroke water cooled engine which requires a carb. How do I convert 7hp to cc to find a suitable carb      :)

Unfortunately it is not as straight forward as just converting 7HP to cc. The 7HP may be an approximate rating, as was common in earliers years with engines, or it may be 7BHP (Brake horse power).
What is the make & model of the engine, what is it's age & what has it come off?
More information needed, & some good clear photographs would be a great help.

The rule of thumb is 1HP = 100cc. Not exact, but pretty close.
So yours is a 700cc approx two-stroke single, and that sounds like it came from industrial plant rather than a bike.
Can't think of any stroker singles that big to use a carb from though...
