Triumph twenty-one seizure
« on: June 17, 2014, 04:10:38 AM »

Going up Cromford Hill I thought I'd use as high a gear as possible within reason [insert boring but plausible reason here]. The engine locked up and I just caught the clutch in time before losing it under the cars behind me.

The left cylinder had been low compression since I bought the bike and it had certainly got lower when I turned the engine over. I drove the rest of the short distance to work very slowly with several breathers. It got me part of the way home before it became clear after a couple of nip-ups that I needed recovery.

The bike is hardly a gem and I'm tight.

Is it practicable to attend to just the one cylinder? What's the best source of possible rebore(s) rings and piston(s)? I'm in Pleasley close to Mansfield.

Any other comments most welcome.

have you dropped the barrels off  ? is it a piston or the bush that's picked up
