Have problems with ignition and only have very poor spark. Am in NZ but require supplier or repairer that can rebuild or supply new parts and know that they are reputable and reliable as could  send anywhere.

Hi Graeme,nice to hear of a James in NZ I gather there are quite a lot out there.Ignition problem? probably the coil is at the end of its life they deteriorate after a few years indeed sometimes the engine will run but if it stops and you try to start it it wont! .I would imagine you should be able to find  somebody who rewinds magnetos in NZIn which case it should be a simple job to rewind your ignition coil inside the flywheel Failing that D H Day of Aldrans,Church Hill, Wroughtonj Swindon Wiltshire SN4 9JR should be able to help.His phone number is 01793. 812323.  fax 01793  845323.Email  dhday31@hotmail.com  I do hope this is of help.I assume you have ensured all is clean and dry wthin the flywheel also check the condenser to make sure that it has not developed an electical leak. I'd be amazed if Harry hasn't given a 100% correct diagnosis. If you want to meet and correspond with other NZ James owners you should join the JamesMotorcycle group on Yahoo Groups.  Quite a few members have a  James ML like yours. The survival rate is surprisingly high and they are a well loved little bike.

I had a 1954 James J5 Cadet (122cc) for quite a few years, & clocked up quite a few miles on it. It was great fun, & if I had a problem it was very easy to fix by the roadside.
