As I go through my T140V rebuild I want to renew as many nuts and bolts as possible with stainless. It's easy enough to find eBay sellers overcharging for stainless bolt sets but I am sure I could find a cheaper source if only I knew the thread sizes I need. Is there an index of Triumph thread sizes anywhere?

Yes, - if you know their part numbers:

Anyway, the majority of T140 fasteners should either be UNF (bolts with nuts) or UNC (bolts & screws into alloy).
Amal Mk1 carbs have either 2BA or BSCycle threads, petrol tap/tank fittings (for V models) are 1/4 BSP (.518")
