Can someone identify this bike, Regn. CH 510 please? The photo was taken circa 1914 in Derby.

;)I would go for A.J.S looks about right for one Matchless maybe geoffus

Absolutely, definitely not Matchless. They made nothing but vee twins in that period plus they made their own forks, not sidespring Druids as shown.
Don't know what it is, but it isn't Matchless.
Cheers, Bob

im not anything of a buff on the veterans, but could it be a Sunbeam? a bloke i know used to own one very similar to this - druid forks, no front brake to speak of (but the same speedo drive), belt drive ... just a thought

NOT A SUNBEAM. ALL MAGS / MAGDYNO'S ARE BEHIND THE BARREL.( EXCEPT FOR THE V-TWINS ) ALSO THE REAR CHAIN IS ON THE TIMNG SIDE UNTIL THE BURMAN BOX IN THE MID 1930'S
BEAMA

Thanks to Howard Burrows of Oz for emailing me and pointing out that this is a pre 1912 Norton.
Notice the “open” Bosch magneto…the closed or waterproof model came out in 1912.
Looks like we got there in the end!
