Title: Buying a bike without V5C
Post by: VintageBike on September 11, 2006, 03:51:33 AM
Does anyone know of there any implications of buying a bike that is on the old style V5? I am looking at a bike that has been off the road for 20 years and the log book has not been updated.

Cheers

Nigel.

There is info here that could be of some use:

Thanks for the link.  Looks like a pain of a procedure!

Still not quite sure where it stands on buying the bike.  How would the change in ownership be recorded with the DVLA?

If the seller has the old V5 then I don't think there should be a problem.

If a seller has no V5 then the buyer needs to fill in a V62:

If you are in any doubt then I suggest you phone the DVLA.
