Title: Clutch Problem

Hi there
I have recently restored a 1963 A65 but I find that the clutch is very stiff to operate have tried readjusting a few times but it does not improve I also have an A10 Gold Flash and the clutch on that is quite light is it normal for the clutch on the A65 to be stiff.

Regarding the clutch problem Have you checked the lever on the h/bar if it has been replaced by a pattern part the hole fitting to cable fitting may not be the correct distance then not allowing a full pull for the cluth to disengage also cable inner could have a boken strand or being rusty then check the cable run so there are no tight bends everything should be smooth in layout, all said I take it you do not have a clutch body and plate problem..

Hi there
Thanks for your reply all parts are new including the cable It does not seem to have any tight bends certainly no tighter than on my Gold Flash which as I have said is a lot lighter the books do not give you a route for the cable so I have taken it along the petrol tank tunnel  wether this is correct I do not know I have just followed the same line as the Gold Flash.

Have you got the clutch spring nuts too tight. They have to be tight enough for it not to slip, but not too tight to operate.

is the push rod nice and free in the main shaft ?

Hi there
Once again thanks for your replies I will have a look at the spring tension when I can get back in the garage, to busy with work in the house at the moment as for the push rod sticking in the main shaft it was not in anyway tight when I slid it in but you never know will  check all the same.
