Title: Unknown bike frame in NW U.S.
Post by: HayesCages on April 04, 2011, 05:42:18 PM
Hello All,
I've found a frame that appears to be British. Can anyone ID for me?
Haven't inspected it yet but the owner says it has a 'GS 202' stamping around the seat area. Head stampings are unknown and covered with fibre glass.
Thanks,
Lawrence

The Anstey link rear suspension would identify it as an Ariel, and 'GS' (202) could be a frame from a 1949 Ariel Square 4 Mk1.

The oil tank appears to match the Square 4 item.

Looks like we're the new owners of an Ariel then...
Serial no. appears to be Z11036. The first character is half way ground off or not stamped fully so I'm unsure if it's a Z or the bottom of a two.

The Ariel Owners Club may be able to give you more information. http://www.arielownersmcc.co.uk/

After having sold off all of the bits save for the frame (reason: no tank mounts) I suppose I need to ask if anyone has a picture and description of said mounts to complete this nice frame.
Please and thank you!
