Title: panther ride or restore ?

still going strong but starting to look its age , total restoration ( could be v expensive ) or just ride

Keep it as it is and ride it, an original used bike is far more interesting than a (over)restored machine.

110% do not restore. The trend now is "dans son jus" as the French say....nothing whatsoever wrong with shiny resto's, but old originals can be just as interesting.

{That Brooklands can is a bit out-size, though.. ;D}

Echo the same sentiment; I have a pre-war M100 unrestored; it is fabulous because you can use it without being precious; it can get dirty, get wet, get used the way the maker intended without detracting or deteriorating.  On the way there is so much fun to be had.

take it out and ride it.
