Title: Wheel hubs?
Post by: Kuutiopää on June 04, 2011, 11:15:38 AM
Hi,

Unknown unused wheel hubs, Harwil or British hub? 7"inch brake, 36 spokes, cup & cone type bearings, casted hubs. Are these the hubs that used in many sport/racing bikes in -30`s?

Regards,
Jami

36 spokes would suggest they were used on smaller bikes ?
Most larger bikes used 40 spokes (?).

I think pre-war Ariels used 36 holed rims. Being 7inch would make them heavyweight.

Harwil hubs were used in Excelsior, OK Supreme and many other smaller manufacturers. Excelsior used 36 spokes, for example manxman`s I think, front hub looks very much like manxman? I think that Excelsior used all kind hubs in their prewar bikes, Harwil, British hubs, Webb and Brampton??
