Sorted out my starting problem but now i seem to have another, my 71 TR6 is fitted with a 68 engine. When i rebuilt it i fitted a new timing breather disc and spring and oil filter plumbed up on the scavenge return. When i got the engine started it took about 3 - 5 minutes until i got a steady flow of oil back to the tank, i had filled the engine oil filter with oil as i didnt want the top end starved of oil as the engine has been rebuilt. Obviously there must have been a fair amount of oil in the sump as it spewed a fair amount out of the breather, now i have a good return i am still getting oil spitting out of the breather tube, will this clear up as i run the engine in or do i have a problem

This will probably clear up when you have done a few miles, as there may be residual oil around the engine from the wet sumping. If this does not stop after a while then you will have to look for other causes. In the meantime don't let the oil breathe onto your rear tyre.

had the same problem on my Ariel , i was told the pipe work leading to where i had fixed the remote oil filtter ( spin on type ) was to long ? after many months of trying other things as a last resort i removed the spin on filtter and just had the tank filter , the wet sumping stopped straight away dont ask me why but im leaving the filter off .

I have fitted the filter behind the down tube ( OIF bike ) between the tube and swing arm pivot where most people fit it. I was thinking of removing it as a last resort although i wanted to leave it on. Before i rebuilt the engine it used to spit a bit out but the engine was pretty much shagged, i will try running the engine in first and see what happens, i dont know whether it will make any difference the way i have run the breather hose. I have been researching the Bunn breathers but what happens with the breather hose from the timed disc if you fit one.
