Title: Triumph Bonnie help please
Post by: Andy_G on January 03, 2007, 07:57:47 AM
I have been working on my 76 Bonnie engine and would like to know if the O rings for the tappet blocks should be included in the standard gasket set. (The ones which are located in the lower groove which sits inside the barrels). Also, how can you tell which O ring/seal goes where? I need an O ring for the kickstart shaft but this doesn't seem to be included in the set either. ALL HELP GRATEFULLY RECEIVED. Thanks

No, they're probably not included normally, (possibly because removing/replacing the tappet blocks isn't considered something that is part of a normal rebuild?) but should be available from any good (Meriden) Triumph parts supplier.

You will just have to use some common sense for that probably?

The kickstart shaft has a proper 'oil seal', not an O-ring so again, probably not included an a 'gasket' kit?

I agree with L.A.B. however whilst you are working on the engine replace the O ring on the gearchange shaft, the 2 oil seals inside the timing cover, and the 2 O rings on the 2 rocker shafts.
