Hi!
I own a Matcless G9 which Iam restoring in Pune, India.
Itis a 1955 model, engine no: 55G9 24265
Need info on the pressure release valve at the clutch end of the crank. This is screwed into the cush drive nut.
I found bits of broken spring & a badly corroded steel ball. Does someone have an exploded view of this assembly & spring & ball details. There appears to be a missing item as cannot assemble it as is.
Thanks, Anji Mehra

The 1955 parts lists shows a small diaphragm (part 016676) and spring, and not a ball bearing:

Thanks very much for the info. Much appreciated. One more query though:
If the plate 016676 fits into 016673, with the spring hoding it down, why is there a hole at the outside end of 016674, as there are small holes drilled on the OD of 016674 just below the hexagon . Iam just making sure I dont trash the big ends & mains after start up.
Is there any site from which I can download the manual?
Take care, Anji

I am sorry but I am unable to give any information as my knowledge of AJS/Matchless motorcycles is rather limited, so I suggest that you join the Yahoo AJS Matchless group where you will probably be able to get more information and download the manual and parts list that you need.

Also there is the AJS Matchless Owners Club:
