Title: T140E Grab rail / Luggage rack
Post by: Sidecarcrosser on March 04, 2012, 10:44:02 AM
Hi,

Does anyone know how to tell what luggage rack/grab rail was fitted to a particular bike or model. I bought a grab rail a couple of years back but it doesn't fit. When I fitted it the holes for the rear of the rail do not line up. It does have 2 holes drilled by the rear light so I am looking something like that. The bike is a 1979 T140E (NA- Oct 78). Whenever I tried to get cycle parts during the rebuild I was always faced with the usual chin stroking from the triumph suppliers as it is a change-over year model.

Any clues please - I have already made a mistake once and am not keen to repeat the expensive experience

Cheers

The 1979 T140E grabrail is listed as part 83-7284. The '80-'81 E grabrail is part 83-7547.

The grab rails may not be interchangeable due to the difference part numbers?
