Hi Folks,
This bike has been starting and running well but not been able to take it on the road.
Now that there is a realistic chance of doing that it's decided to play up of course!
I'm not really a 2-stroke man but would like to get it on the road.
From cold it will start and run and take me about 100 ft then it will stop and fails to start again.
There is a spark and I've corrected a few possible problems, dirty fuel filter, adjusted float height and tried different plugs.
The only thing I'm not sure about is that although I get good compression but if I take the carb off I don't feel much suction on kickover.
If any two stroke enthusiasts can shed any light on this I would be very grateful.
Cheers
Don

The usual cause of stroker problems like this is worn crankcase seals. It starts OK on the rich mixture etc but when put under sustained load it soon fails.
Still, a strip and rebuild only takes a morning... ;)

Thanks for the reply,
I was fearing that might be the problem.
I replaced them in 1997, done hardly any mileage though.
