Post by: wetdog on April 13, 2013, 12:43:58 PM
Just fitting a alternator to my gold star , has anyone else experience of this conversion , any pics would help , im looking to run in front of the motor (like velo but toothed belt ) so I can fit some decent lights  , 460 w at 3000 rpm engine , alt 4500 rpm , 120w at 1000 rpm engine , so 1/1.5 drive

If you shop around these can be got cheaper. I machined the housing on one of these to fit a S7 Sunbeam. They are tiny.  http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/KUBOTA-EXCAVATOR-ALTERNATOR-KH007-KH35-KH36-KH41-KH51-15531-64016-6C040-59252-/360460519885?pt=BI_Heavy_Equipment_Parts&hash=item53ed1f09cd&_uhb=1#ht_1840wt_1037

You can buy low wattage halogen bulbs these days, in 6v versions even.

No need to change anything ??

bosch , i tryed the 6v halogen and the led in a ariel , they are ok , but i think 12v still beats it , it wont look that nice but if it works thats all im interested in , may even go v belt , the bosch is neat with built in rec/reg so straight to battery d/c
