Found a bike that I need help identifying. It has a Villiers 9D engine. The motor id has a 539 prefix and the frame number is AU3229. Many thanks in advance helping me in my quest to identify this bike.

That would make it about a Waratah ?
Postwar, 125cc, girder fork rigid frame lightweight, 3 sp hand change through the tank.
Got a pic ?
Be unusual in the USA, if it is in the USA....

We are in Washington State in the USA. After seeing your reply I did some research on Waratah and it sure looks like that is what it is. It has a nonstandard tank which has had everyone stumped. Is the AU prefix on the frame #an indicator of Australia or is that just a coincidence? Thank you very much for the reply. I'll try to get a pic on.

Just realized I put this in the wrong category. once again, Thanks for the reply!

AU prefix seems only for Waratahs, so seems more than co-incidence.
Other end of the alphabet though.
D33 here knows more about serial numbers, may be able to advise.
Lot of chat a while back here about these models being a variety of Excelsior, from UK - so in the right section. !!
Whether they were imported whole, or built up from some sort of kit is an interesting question.
A few varieties of other brands were quite similar, but different in minor details..
Look forward to a pic or 2 ?
