Title: triumph winter hack tank balance pipe

working on this years winter hack / dragon rally , ive had a few triumphs but i have never seen a balance pipe like this before , when did triumph do this (and why) the bikes a bitsa @ 1957

You've sort of answered your own question really. It's a bitsa that has evolved over 56 years. Maybe Triumph didn't do this but someone else did. Maybe the tank was from a twin carbed bike or the bike it was created for ran better with this set-up. I had a bike which only ran at its very best when the tank was over half full.
