Title: Alpha villiers help!!!!
Post by: scrambler63 on February 27, 2014, 08:15:51 PM
Hi all,

I'm currently restoring a Villiers engine for my DOT scrambler and I'm having no luck finding big end bearings.
Does anyone know where I can get hold of these? I tried quite a few places now and no one can seem to help.

See attachment file to see an example. Mine is the early type if that helps.

I don't know why  people torture their wallets on anything villier engined ? You'll never get your money back when you get sick of it! You certainly are a breed apart!

You're rather vague as to what engine you have in your DOT. You talk of a Villiers engine but add an attachment for an Alpha bottom end which is not Villiers.
Perhaps if you tell us exactly what you have (engine numbers are good) someone may be able to help.

Cheers,

Its a villiers 36a engine with alpha crank and cases. It fits up to the standard villiers gearbox etc. I've attached a pic of before it got dismantled.

The bearings don't have any numbers stamped unfortunately, but I have made some measurements. The crank thickness is  1.09.25 in   and recess in crank casings is 1.85.50  and bearings are 1.03  and 1.12 inches wide.
