A straight-on view of the side with oil tank and front brake would be more definite...

Obviously an all alloy T100 engine but it's so long since I've had a Rigid Trumpy I can't tell if It's a Trumpy frame at all? The front engine plates don't look right so possibly isn't Trumpy.

Looks like it could be Ariel, but will wait for the pics.
Especially the tank panel, if that is part of it.

I got this for free when I went to buy a James , the person had given up biking and was selling up , some very rare and expensive machines as he had bought him self a race car (Bugatti) he had put the james on ebay but was local so he let me go round , we talked about the bikes for about four hours (I could have stayed longer) , its not Ariel and he did not know either but was not very interested .

heres the james project (http://i58.tinypic.com/2dbpgxx.jpg)

Hi, I think the Burman gearbox is a bit earlier than your frame and gearbox mounting looks a bit modified. Is there any frame number? For some reason Royal Enfield comes to my mind. Are you going to use this Burman gearbox in that frame, if not, is is spare for you, sale? Cheers.

what year is the box ? it fits the frame perfect but i dont think it will handle the power , i have with it a ridgid triumph box which i may alter and use so this box maybe for sale , which part do you think is a modification

Your Burman gearbox is mediumweight for 250/350cc bikes from early -30s. Hard to say from your first photo, the gearbox base in the frame looks like modified.

frame is original

Ariels used Burman boxes. And that frame looks not unlike Ariels.....

That squarish lump in the frame in the gearbox vicinity looks odd if its original.
And a 2 stud gearbox wouldn't seem to fit it ?

A good view of the oil tank or front brake will probably yell out exactly what this is.

Matchless 250 ?
Could be an earlier year though, and/or that gearbox is earlier, as suggested.

View of panel on tank would define it down closer...

I thought matchless due to shape of fuel and oil caps , but this frame is one piece , also the forks are 7 1/2 inch wide

got a email off where it came from , this bike was fitted with a Norton engine which was removed for another project , but was not thought to be  the correct engine for the machine

That didn't start life as a Norton...

Show a pic of what it looks like when done. ?

no I don't think so either , and theres no way the gear box will handle the power or line up with this engine , the engine has come with the mount plates , looks like it was started but stopped half way , I will look to see if can finish but will have to alter frame for a dif gear box , not a job can do so cost may halt this one .

I sort of lost interest a bit , had it together then stripped just to clean , regreese , and paint over the rust , I never wanted to resore it but more bar hopper bobber thing , I rebuilt engine and box andjust left , you may have just got me interested again , heres how it stands now , never found out for sure what it had been once but engine box primary and drive all lined up , may finish over winter
