can anyone tell me the colour of the maroon on a 1959 c12 thanks

If you look on the 'net, the shade of maroon/red C15's seems to vary (slightly) all over the shop.

Your best bet is to find an unfaded paint example - inside a toolbox, or under the tank, or behind the kneepads,
or inside the brake backing plate - and have it matched at your local paint shop.
Failing that, you may get lucky and have someone who has been through this tell you what they matched it to.
But even paint shops will tell you to paint everything from the one can, the next one may differ slightly in shade.
And it could have been the same even from BSA...

Folks have even been known to buy examples of items in good matchable paint to get a good colour match. ?

R is right. You don’t think every C15 rolled out of BSA with exactly the same shade of red do you? There are always commercial tolerances between batches. No one could get it exactly the same over years of production.
For that matter, what makes you think you have perfect colour vision? Slightly off colour vision is more common among males than you think.
No matter how careful you are some one will say you got it wrong.
It’s just a fact of life.
Cheers,

It is your bike, so paint it what ever colour red looks right to you.

All the above is true, and colours varied by the paint supplied and added to the mix. Another thing is true, and that's the BSA in the pic never left Small Heath in that particular shade of red (or with black painted rims come to that) but the owner's happy, and that's what counts.

Ford black cherry is a good start.

A repaint obviously, but Ford Black Cherry looks fairly close to that toolbox shown above... ?

RAL3007 - black red. That's the colour for the C12 as in your text. Your heading is C15 which is probably a different colour.
