Title: Ariel Arrow Flasher?
Post by: ramwing7 on April 19, 2025, 08:23:50 PM
I am starting the disassembly of a 1962 Ariel Arrow.  In removing the wiring harness, which is in very good condition, I discovered a flasher unit tucked up inside the frame.  The bike doesn't have flashers, nor any wiring intended for such.
Does anyone have a clue as to why this flasher is there?
Thanks.

If the bike is not fitted with flashers, then either
1. It has been in the past, and they are now gone.
2. A previous owner (PO) intended to fit them.
3. There is no possible other logical explanation !

Are we sure its a flasher unit
Were there any wires attached.

This Arrow has bar end winkers.

Does the wiring diagram show this ?
Proof positive that they were factory fitted ?

And this one doesn't

A 2 stroke twin - just a little ahead of its time ?

The Ariel Arrow was a stripped down version of the preceding Ariel Leader which did have flashers. Whether as standard or deluxe accessory slips my memory. It was the early days of British bikes even having flashers. It doesn’t surprise me at all that you have a flasher unit tucked away in your Arrow. They were an item offered by Ariel.
Plus who knows what some owner has dreamt up in the fifty odd years the bike has been around.
