Title: What year model is this BSA?

If you had shown the photo and said "what year?" then I'd have said = 1969.

So I don't know why it has the LA prefix instead of LC?

I'm not sure about the side panel decal, as another style was used for 1969 -but that doesn't necessarily mean yours is wrong.

Addition
The 1969 parts book lists US model Lightning decals as part number 60-1999.

Post by: R on February 06, 2011, 05:47:39 AM: Doesn't the Y signify that this is one of the many bikes that BSA took back and labelled as a later year - can't recall the reason but shipping delays or union strikes came into it somewhere ?
