Title: What jets for my Matchless G2?
Post by: VintageBike on July 02, 2008, 03:27:31 PM
Can anyone tell me what jets and throttle cutaway I should have in my 1960 Matchlesss G2?  I believe the main should be 180 but I can find no other information.

Thanks

Nigel

Hi Nigel,

the carb should be a 376/99 with:

Main jet -180
Choke size - 1 1/16"
Slide - 3 1/2
Needle Position - central
Pilot - 25

I hope this helps!

Nigel, your query seems to have been admirably answered here but perhaps worth mentioning that the Vintage Motor Cycle Club have all the ex-Amal carburetor spec and build cards (going right back as far as I could tell).

It is possible to search by carb number or by bike model / year where there was a deviation from an off the shelf item.

It's a wonderful resource, made all the more useful by the VMCC's policy of making information as freely available as possible :)
