Title: Help Please!! Looking for Tiger 100 SS Restoration
Post by: Ken on September 27, 2008, 04:24:56 PM
I'm new to the site and am hoping you guys can help me.  I'm looking for (hoping to find) a Triumph Tiger 100 SS in need of fixing up.  However, I am not sure where to even start searching for one.  I've tried the likes of eBay and Auto Trader etc but have come up empty handed.  Do any of you have any tips on where I can begin to start looking?

Any advice gratefully received.  Thanks for looking!

Same as any other bike-specific search; owner's club, Ebay, OBM, wanted ads in classic rags. It's just luck how long it'll take.
Been one in the classic rags for the last couple of months for about £5000 IIRC but that's really flying a kite.
Be wary though, SSs were from 1961 -66, and it's common for people to tosh up 5TAs etc and call them SSs, and also for people to misdescribe other models (eg T100S 1967-9 are often labelled SS by the cunning ones).
One more thing, if you come across the earliest model with the one-year-only rear bath tub, make sure it's present and the right type 'cos they're similar to the later type at first glance. I doubt you'll EVER see a correct tub for sale though..

What about this one that has rather coincidentally just appeared in the Bikes for Sale section?:  http://www.vintagebike.co.uk/Classifieds/listing/1903/tiger_100ss_for_sale.html

Good advice, thanks Rex.  I've only just started looking seriously but I've already got a feeling that it's going to be a long search.  I'll take on board what you say.

L.A.B. - many thanks for pointing this one out that's on the site.  I'm hoping to find one that's a bit more beat up than that so I can restore etc.

In anybody hears of either a Tiger 100 SS, or a 90, or a 120 - all mid-60's - that need some serious attention, please bear me in mind.    Any thanks again for your interest in my post.
