Title: advice needed ('69 Daytona 500 restoration)
Post by: Ger on November 18, 2008, 09:15:55 PM
Hello,

Firstly I am new here so hello all.

I am looking to buy my father-in-law a xmas present.  He's recently retired and has his old bike in the garage needing restoration which he's suggested that he'd now like to do as he has so much spare time!

I need to get him a good restoration guide/manual for him to get started and if anyone has suggestions on part suppliers etc that would be a bonus.

All I know is that the bike is a 1969 Triumph Daytona 500cc.

Can anyone help me?  Thanks in advance ...

Ger.  :)

Hello Ger,

I would think that "Triumph Twin Restoration" by Roy Bacon would be the ideal choice?

"essential guide to the
renovation, restoration and development history of all pre 1972
production Triumph Twins, full specifications, large format, 240 ills, 240
pages - .....................................£22.50"

Photo reprints of the correct year factory manual and parts book should be available from BMS: http://www.brucemainsmith.com/

There are many parts suppliers so  I have only listed a few:

Here is a link to a very good source of Triumph literature - J. R. Technical Publications.
