Title: What was used on 1930's BSA wiring
Post by: murdo on March 26, 2021, 08:07:58 AM
One of my friends today asked me what should he use on his 1931 BSA to rewrap the wiring in as the bits he has done with plastic insulation tape look crap. He has done a great job of keeping the original patina, just rebuild bits to keep it going and riding, but the wiring wrap just makes it look off. Any suggestions I can pass on to help him make it look better please.

A couple of years ago there was a firm advertising that they could re-cover your loom in the original black and yellow cloth. I can't find the advert but it may be for car restorers. May be worth a search.

How about the fleece tape here: https://www.autosparks.co.uk/electrical-components/tapes (https://www.autosparks.co.uk/electrical-components/tapes) ?

It's adhesive but maybe used to cover proper modern harness tape?
