hi,
am trying to remove carbs from above bike.have taken tank off ect and loosened the eight bands
holding carbs on to engine and air filter.do I just pull the carbs back towards the rear of bike or
have I missed something?

hi again,
will have a good run out on bike this weekend.hope this sorts out the wet sumping.
have been using sae 30 mineral oil in the oil tank as per the manual.is this correct?

hi again,
have drained sump of oil (lots).put 4 lots of redex in bores and with new N4C plugs the bike started
at 3rd kick.miracles do happen..
bike probably needs a run as it is still wet sumping or could the oil pump be the problem?

hi
yes I did post 2 weeks ago but unfortunately dated the bike 1958 instead of 1959.
I followed the advice regarding new plugs and petrol but as I am 70 years old this
year I am struggling to get under the bike to locate the sump plate.
I will gird my loins and try again.

hi,
my triumph speed twin is very difficult to start and when it does eventually start is smokey.
it has been used very little during the last 10 or so years.
have put new plugs in and also new petrol but starting is still painful.
I wonder if the valve timing needs checking?
any help with problem appreciated

hi,
have put new plugs in and fresh petrol and bike started after a few kicks but unfortunately i stalled bike and the bike would not restart so i just left it and will try again another day..
sorry but i gave the wrong info in original post:the triumph is actually a 1959 model with distributer..
any help will again be much appreciated..

have had above bike for ten years but unfortunately it is rarely ever used due to difficulty in starting.
followed instructions in manual but I can spend 30 mins and bike still will not start.
on the few occasions bike eventually starts it is smokey and loses oil via pipe underneath.
have changed plugs and oils but problems still exist..
any helpful advice appreciated.
