Hi all,
On the way to work today 10 mile trip, my bike developed a deep thumping noise, sounds like bottom end under acceleration. Have owned 51 years so used to all the normal noises. Any ideas would be welcome before I start a complete strip down.

Thanks for reply, I have used drill type impact driver with metric socket ( bit loose fitting) to tighten. Currently waiting on delivery of the correct socket BSF 7/8 from Australia. I have had a read on a number of BSA and other sites, torque settings up to 180 ft lbs based on type of steel, others just tighten with a strong arm :)  Attached the Indian Enfield 350cc torque settings for crank pin which is 13.8kg /m  or 99 ft lbs.

Thanks for your help, looking to heat case and put drive side together, checked oil ways were clear and found three bits of broken ring in crankcase return, something must have gone bang when I was a lad :)

I have assembled and aligned crank, however the two 3/4 BSW nuts an the crank pin are not aligned to allow the small lock screws, can you advise torque setting for these two. My readings indicate 98 ft lbs can you confirm.

Thanks for the reply, I have had an email from Adrian at Hitchcocks and he and your assembly is the same so that's great to have it confirmed. One step closer to having it back on the road after long time ownership in storage. Original number plate which I have managed to register is 250TT shame it wasn't 350TT :)

I purchased the bike as a lad 48 years ago and did some non educated work on the bottom end between the four additional bikes as each had a problem. Keep them all for my old age and decided at 65 its time to start restoring.  Thanks for the help will chase up on suggestions.

Hi, I have a 1951 350cc g2 Royal Enfield and are looking for help in determining the assembly order for the drive side crankcase.

There are two ball bearings separated by a spacer, a cork seal, bearing washer and another washer as per the replacement parts manual from Hitchcocks Motorcycles. The book is not clear on assembly so help or picture would be fantastic.

Thanks for the bearing hint, the replacement bearing has 2 seals so I will do as you suggest.

Hi,
It has an Albion 4 speed box, have disassembled and prepared for replacing both bearings and currently looking for a double lip seal to replace the felt seal at drive end.

Hi All,
Next weekend is our Burt Munro rally in Invercargill Southland New Zealand, Burt's home town as featured in the movie The worlds fastest Indian. I meet Burt at the beach in1970's on a day that he popped the barrel of the crankcase on his Velocette. Have some photos that I will find and post to site.

It has the 4 speed Albion Box, have dismantled and have two new bearings to install,  looking to replace felt drive side seal with double lip replacement.

After a look at BSA frame numbers on the mighty web I have found that frame is BSA C10 or C11 from 1951.

Yes it would make sense that frame is BSA as well, I will have a close look at motor mounts to confirm these have been added to fit the RE motor. Thanks for your knowledge

Many thanks for the update on the forks, so it will be a bitsa. Based on the New Zealand Kiwi "fix anything" attitude the forks most likely modified after it arrived in NZ. I am interested in finding out what year the bike was sent to NZ and if the frame is for a model D.
There is a small oil tank between motor and gearbox, looks home made to me, has a block of wood as a space filler.

Hi,
Managed to get frame number Z0102?337, bit hard to read middle number has been damaged. Frame has very light plates welded at headstock. Photo's of frame and motor attached. Pic of my T100s 1970, I'm second owner purchased in 1973, always been road ready and I have done over 60,000miles on her.
