Identify these bikes! / Re: Need some help please

Hello folks,

I would be interested in knowing the value of a 1929 Triumph CN, as I have one in extremely good condition and shes a cracking runner. I am considering selling it to a friend but I have no idea at all of its true value. Can anyone shine a light on this subject?

Hello Gray,

T500 frame numbers appear to start at 12518 in 1968 and end with 70885 in 1975 so your numbers are a dilema, sorry to drop this on you.

Hi Henry

It looks a dead ringer for my 1926 S26 500cc sidevalve too... hard wood brake blocks and all. (But I've been wrong before and I don't consider myself to be in the same league as other folk on this site)

My first rice burner (and my 2nd last) after a succession of Brit tackle was a brand spanking new CB900FA bought in may 1980 for the princely sum of £1600 from DC Cook in Goldthorpe S Yorks. I loved it to bits and courted my wife on it. I still have the wife but sadly the Honda has gone, maybe theres a lesson to be learned in this story somewhere....

I can't wait for a definative answer on either of these two questions.
My take on the Model 18/ES2 question was that they were virtually the same bike except for the frames.. like you.
I know the model 55 was a 350cc bike with a twin port head first advertised in 1933 and little else, like I said... I wait with bated breathe for words of enlightenment.

I had the self same problem, mine was down to the fibre mag drive. Now and again when the bike kicked back on starting it wrecked the fibre gear which was always at an inoppertune time and also quite expensive so I fitted a Dural gear, supplied by Unity Equipe (UNA 189) for £31 and this seemed to alleviate the problem. I agree that it might be a taper problem and worth investigating before shelling out any readies.

British Bikes / Tri-field
« on: May 15, 2008, 05:39:46 PM »
Hello Chaps and Chapesses,

I bought an engine and a frame (T100 engine, 250 Enfield Conti frame) with a view to building something a bit different. Has anyone got any experience in building a Trifield? Any advice/warnings duly taken on board.

Kindest regards, Frank

Hello there,
You seem to be heading down a similar track to most Triton builders (and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that at all), but there is another angle worth considering I believe. A Triton by definition is a 'special', so why not make it special indeed, drag it screaming and shouting into the new millenium and modernise it a little :o.

My effort being http://www.vintagebike.co.uk/Bike%20Directories/Hybrid%20Bikes/pages/Triton-T150V.htm

Not everyoes cup of tea, but it has a little originality and it is great fun (especially mugging modern bikes round the twisty bits  ;D)
