British Bikes / 1953 Triumph T100C identification

Hi,
I was wondering if someone could help me identify if
the bike I'm considering to purchase is an actual 1953
T100C. I read in books the '50's T100C was offered
from 1951-1954, but other books state it was offered
in 1953 only. The only thing that caught my attention
was the engine number reads T100c followed by the
serial number. The "c" after the T100 designation is a
small "c". I thought it should be a large "C" like the
"T" in T100. The owner claims the small "c" is
correct. My friend who went with me says the C
should be after the serial number. He said that's how
the factory race bikes like the GP model was
identified. I would like to get some advice before I
purchase this bike.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Cheers,
Mark
