THERE NOWT SO STRANGE AS FOLK !
I REMEMBER A WELL KNOWN AUTHORITY ON SUNBEAMS SAYING A FEW YEARS AGO THAT YOU CAN USE BSA PISTONS IN SUNBEAMS AND THE MORE BSA'S THAT ARE NOT ON THE ROAD THE BETTER. HE NOW RUNS A BSA !
MY OWN OPINION IS IT DOESN'T MATTER WHICH  COUNTRY YOUR BIKE IS MADE IN JUST ENJOY IT !
THE JAPANESE DID NOT KILL THE BRITISH MOTORCYCLE INDUSTRY, I THINK REFUSING TO PROGRESS AND LACK OF FORESIGHT CONTRIBUTED TO IT'S DOWNFALL. I KNOW SOME OF OUR OLDER GENERATION CANNOT FORGET THE WAR, I THINK WE HAVE TO RESPECT THERE FEELINGS AND THAT THEY REMEMBER THINGS WE DONT, AND ARE NOT BEING RUDE BUT JUST EXPRESSING THEIR OPINION.

DODSONS 1928 TT 90 HAD A BULL NOSE FUEL TANK.
HIS 1929 AND 1930 TT 90'S WERE SADDLE TANKS.
(THIS IS THE MOST OBVIOUS DIFFERENCE)

IF YOU SEARCH ON THE INTERNET FOR ' GEORGE PECK
SUNBEAM ' I THINK YOU WILL BE SURPRISED, HE KNEW CHARLIE DODSON AND I KNOW GEORGE IS STILL ALIVE AND KICKING AT 90 PLUS.

THE CHANCES OF FINDING THE ACTUAL 1929 SENIOR TT BIKE ARE SLIM.THERE ARE NUMEROUS PEOPLE CLAIMING TO HAVE IT. I CAN TELL YOU THAT CHARLIE DODSON WON IT AT AN AVERAGE SPEED OF 72.05 MPH AND BROKE THE LAP RECORD WITH A SPEED OF 73.55 MPH. HE ALSO WON THE 1928 SENIOR TT AT AN AVERAGE SPEED OF 62.98 MPH. I HAVE RIDDEN THE 1930 M90 THAT IS  SUPPOSED TO BE THE BIKE THAT DODSON CAME FOURTH ON. I CAN TELL YOU THAT IT IS AN INCREDIBLE MACHINE TO RIDE. EVEN IF ITS NON POSITIVE STOP 3 SPEED GEABOX IS A BIT OF A PIG UNTIL YOU GET USED TO IT.
I DO KNOW WHERE THE EX- DODSON 1928 WINNER IS AND I AM FAIRLY SURE IT IS THE CORRECT BIKE.
AND, NO I CANT DIVULGE WHERE IT IS FOR OBVIOUS REASONS !
YOU CAN SEE THE 1930 BIKE BEING RIDDEN ON A VIDIO CALLED 'THE TESTERS RUN' FIRST RELEASED IN 1995/1996 BY LUMIC VIDIO PRODUCTIONS, TEL: +44 1348 274742 & 839379  IT WAS FOR SALE IN VARIOUS OUTLETS IN THE UK. I BELIEVE IT WAS RENAMED LATER AS 'SUNBEAM AND AJS MOTORCYCLES'

A vertical twin has vertical barrels. ie the triumph 5ta etc
they are also parallel. ie barrels alongside each other.
A parallel twin can have barrels at any angle as long as the two cylinders are alongside each other. ie the 125 cc moto rumi twin.

HI JOHN.
AJS M8 OHV'S WERE BUILT IN 1929 SERIAL NO'S 93046-93430.
94681-.
M10 OHC'S  BUILT THE SAME YEAR SERIAL NO'S 120072-120100.
89620-89752
THE M10 HAD A 23/4 GALLON FUEL TANK, THE ONE YOU SHOW LOOKS LIKE A 21/2 GALLON TANK WHICH PROBABLY IS M8.
I CANT BE SURE BUT I BELIEVE THE FRAMES ETC ARE THE SAME ON BOTH MODELS.
THESE AJS OHC ENGINES ARE FABULOUS, THEY REV HIGH AND BEING IN A VERY LIGHT FRAME GO LIKE THE WIND. IF YOU GET A CHANCE TO RIDE ONE DONT HESITATE !

HI BARRY,
THE FIRST VILLIERS 2 STROKE WAS INTRODUCED IN 1913.
WITH THE NUMBER YOU GIVE THE L PREFIX WAS FOR THE 147cc MARK VII-C MADE IN 1923.CAST IRON PISTON AND FIXED GUDGEON PIN, ONE PIECE CYLINDER AND HEAD WITH A COMPRESSION RELEASE VALVE.
WHAT IS A WARATAH ? I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF IT.

I AM NOT AN EXPERT ON AJS, BUT IN LOOKING IN STEVE MILLS BOOK ON AJS OF WOLVERHAMPTON.THE BIKE LOOKS LIKE A 1925 G3,G4 OR G5 349 CC. OR MAYBE SOMEONE KNOWS BETTER !

 I AM NO EXPERT BUT AS YOU HAVE HAD NO REPLIES----
THE CHASSIS IS THE CORRECT WAY UP. IT FITS ON THE RIGHT OF THE MOTORCYCLE WITH THE REAR OF THE BODY HANGING ON THE SPRINGS.THE STUB AXLE OF THE SIDECAR WHEEL FITTING INTO THE BRACKET ON THE REAR RIGHT OF THE FRAME AS YOU SIT ON THE BIKE. THE LAST TIME I SAW THIS TYPE OF CHASSIS IT WAS ON A LATE1920'S SUNBEAM M7 600cc MOTORCYCLE. SORRY CANT HELP WITH THE MAKE. BUT  SURELY THERE IS SOMEONE READING THIS WHO CAN !

NOT A SUNBEAM. ALL MAGS / MAGDYNO'S ARE BEHIND THE BARREL.( EXCEPT FOR THE V-TWINS ) ALSO THE REAR CHAIN IS ON THE TIMNG SIDE UNTIL THE BURMAN BOX IN THE MID 1930'S

YOU HAVE A 1965 (ABOUT)  SEDGLEY BUILT ( WOLVERHAMPTON ) DMW SPORTS TWIN FRAME (DUPLEX ) AND FORKS.THE ENGINE SHOULD BE A VILLIERS 2T OR 3T  2 STROKE TWIN. THEY MAY HAVE PUT THE 250 CC SINGLE IN AS WELL ( THE STARMAKER RACING ENGINE WAS DERIVED FROM THAT )

IT'S A SUNBEAM ! PROBABLY A 3 1/2 HP AND PRE 1923
AS IT HAS A STIRRUP FRONT BRAKE.
