British Bikes / Re: bicycle speedometer computer

Sigma makes high quality "bicycle"computers for motorbike use; I have used them on my modern bikes for many years now; some of them can show speeds up to 300 km/h, if you would want to give the old bike a try on the Bonneville Salt Flats!

British Bikes / Re: t110 Bathtub 1961 correct engine?

Thanks for your replies, guys.
The seller didn`t like my questioning this matter, so I reckon that he will not be willing to tell me the engine number, and I will therefore be looking for another bike instead of this one.
I have already found a sweet `55 Speed Twin in the same price range, which I will give a closer look tomorrow, so if I am lucky, I will still be able to make the Danish countryside unsafe on a British bike this summer!!

Thanks again,
Ole

British Bikes / t110 Bathtub 1961 correct engine?
« on: June 18, 2012, 06:20:38 PM »
Wanting to buy a classic Triumph, I was offered a `61 T110 bathtub model, which, according to the seller, was an ex-iranian police bike. The engine, however, is equipped with an iron head and external oilpipes, which to my knowledge should make it a pre `55 engine. The seller claims that the last pre-unit models were put together from whatever old model spare parts, that were lying on the factory shelves. I find this rather hard to believe, especially, when you are talking of a bike, that will be shipped to the authorities of another state. Can anybody tell me, if I am being over-suspicious, or if the seller has a point here?? (According to him, the numbers are matching)

Thanks, Ole.
