Hello I have a Honda pc50 1972 which seems in good order apart from the carb, could anyone tell me the correct settings for this bike , jets, needle hight, pilot, mixture in out etc . The engine is pushrod. But does have the number PF50E-D on the side.

I purchased a taper and tap from E bay M14 X 1.25mm last week , I cleaned the threads up this morning and took the bike out for a run of about 10 miles and all seems well! No leaks , I am not suggesting that this is a long term solution but the old girl is up and running again.

Just as a matter of interest I have purchased an endoscope from eBay for £7 it fits directly onto your phone has a magnet attachment periscope attachment and also various other tools this particular one is waterproof too. 7mm Dia smaller ones are available for the same cost.

Yes I have but of course you need the applicator as well and the cutting tool. I may have to open the wallet !

The timesert looks to be my best bet and the  instructional video is excellent , I have checked online for a kit with a 14mm diameter tap and a1.25 thread pitch but  unfortunately it looks like you have to buy an entire kit which runs to £100 to get the thread size I want , does anyone sell a thread specific kit ?

Many years ago a friend of mine (claimed) he had his old Bonneville spark plug thread drilled  out and heli coiled with the head still attached to the barrel, by pushing a greased length of cloth( to catch the swarf)into the combustion chamber (though the spark plug hole) it was drilled to the correct size then  heli coiled, the tang was somehow removed then job done, is this really possible because mine needs doing on the left pot.The bike was running really well, I wish I had left it be!

Okay thank you for all the tips if all else fails I will take the primary chain Case off and examine the actual clutch , back to the original question, which is the best oil for T1 40 I've been told straight 20/50   Others have said 10/40 .

The issue is when I actually engage the gearlever for the first time from cold as soon as the gear lever is depressed the bike lurches forward and cuts out however once I start the machine again  The initial clunk disappears as if the plates have now separated . The action of the clutch and clutch cable is quite smooth if a little heavy by modern standards.  On longer journeys even when the engine is hot changing gear is still quite a  chore  because of the notchy gear lever action .

My bike is currently running very well however when I pull the clutch in from cold there is a hell of a clunk and sometimes it's stalls the bike when starting off from cold , when the engine is hot I simply place at Tie wrap over the clutch lever to keep the clutch free  and to prevent it from sticking , I know this is not a long-term solution and wonder if there is  something on the market that will alleviate the sticking clutch problem as I am finding it difficult to change gear no matter how I adjust the clutch . I have considered changing the oil  in the primary drive side  to a more slippery oil maybe a semi synthetic .

A Honda CB125 in 1977,I wanted a bike a year earlier but my dad would not sign the guarantors form at the bank so  during the fantastic summer of 1976 all that I could do was listen to my mates on their fizzys, Tiger crosses , SS 50s ,and believe it or not one of the lads had a Puch Maxi, The Honda 125 was a great little bike I bought a  megaphone silencer and put crash bars on it and two extra brake lights on the back !Plus not forgetting the day glow orange headlight cover! Then all of a sudden we got into the Yamaha RD250's,  we were always down at Granby motors at Ilkeston finding all the little  bits of tat that we could afford .

Hello thanks for that I've already checked the battery though and all seems fine it's holding a charge well but the output  is still only around 12.8 volts  at 4 to 5000 rpm

The  charging circuit  is only making 12.8 volts on my T140  Bonneville at the battery  terminals at about 4000 rpm and as soon as I switch the lights on the engine dies  i've checked the Earth terminals and I all seems well there the only thing I can think of is the alternator is faulty or there is a problem with the  rectifier , because this bike is a change over model there doesn't seem to be any suitable wiring  diagrams in the manuals , The bike is fitted with its original rectifier  and original Zena, are only two wires coming up from the alternator a green yellow and a green white if anyone has any ideas I will be grateful . Otherwise the five runs  really well . The bike has a positive earth.
