Don't quote me on this but I seem to recall that "Krauser" who made a lot  of panniers for the BMW had some brackets and boxes that would fit the CX500.

Anyone agree with that ?? ;D

Have you tried searching on E-Bay ?

I don't suppose there's a chance that any of those racks would fit the Honda 400/4 ??? ;D

Japanese Bikes / CB400/4 sprockets help
« on: September 18, 2008, 12:53:43 AM »
Can anyone enlighten me as to the number of teeth on the STANDARD sprockets on a '79 400/4 F2 please.

Also I would like to increase the TOP speed rather than ACCELERATION....would that be larger at the front and smaller at the rear?? :-?

How can we "check it out" when the link goes straight to the LOG IN page,......it's fishing for members !!

As a "guest" we can't even tell what the whole thing is about.

Good advice from Blue.

I have a 400/4 and I've had to start from basics with it as I didn't know it's history and assumed things were right............how wrong can we be.

If I were you I'd have someone take a look at it for you, who has the right gear for the job.....I.E diagnostic gear/vacuum gauges etc.

Japanese Bikes / Re: CB400 four misfiring
« on: August 01, 2008, 07:46:16 AM »
Have you taken plug caps off in turn and listened for the misfire?
Are you absolutely certain that it is No2 that's misfiring?

Are you also getting a flat spot around 4-5000 revs ?

Assuming that your points and timing are OK, I suggest you check the nylon block behind the side pannel, (battery side).
I had a similar problem and found that it was due to the connectors inside the nylon block that were GREEN.

I have since "bypassed" the block with new connectors individually taped and then taped together, now runs fine.

My problem was the power supply to the coils wasn't regular/good enough.

Like you I also went for a "plug" or HT lead fault.
