The Classic Biker Bar / How to apply decals?
« on: June 10, 2009, 10:37:59 AM »
Good morning guys.

Just putting the finishing touches to a C15 restoration, and now want to apply the decals to my side panel/oil tank.  Can anyone advise on the best way of doing this?  I'm sure I've done it in the past, but I'm buggered if I can remember how I did it....

Cheers

Nigel

The Classic Biker Bar / Fraud Warning
« on: August 28, 2008, 04:55:16 PM »
If you are thinking of buying or selling a bike - please be careful.  There are criminals out there who will try to take your money!

Beware of seller Jaya Kencana of Indonesia.  He "sells" many bikes and has taken money from many people.  Do not deal with him.

A list of known criminal buyers that have tried to con sellers on this site is available at http://www.vintagebike.co.uk/Classifieds/pages.php?page=9

The Classic Biker Bar / 1928 Australasian Land Speed Record??
« on: November 22, 2007, 01:44:11 AM »
Can anyone help Audrey Aarons cerify her father's claimed land Speed Record of 1928.  The photo below carries the inscription:
1928 Land Speed Record, 100+mph AJS 350 single Lake Pircalily* W.A. Rider Alf Aarons.

Her father always claimed that this was an Australasian Land Speed Record and Audrey is trying to verify whether this was indeed the case.

The Classic Biker Bar / An alternative to speed cameras...
« on: January 23, 2007, 02:27:00 AM »
It would appear that the Danish have a very sensible alternative to speed cameras.  Take a look at http://www.speedbandits.dk/ to find out more...

I've suggested to my wife that she might like to start a similar campaign.  I shan't repeat her answer....  :o

(thanks to http://www.feked.com/ for the link!

The Classic Biker Bar / Don Morley
« on: August 25, 2007, 05:07:18 PM »
Does anyone out there have contact details for Don Morley, the author and photographer?  I need to get in touch with him urgently, but the email address he has given me is incorrect.  Any assistance appreciated.  Please either email me (nigel.wynne@vintagebike.co.uk) or IM the details rather than posting them on the forum.

Many thanks

The Classic Biker Bar / Buying a bike without V5C
« on: September 11, 2006, 03:51:33 AM »
Does anyone know of there any implications of buying a bike that is on the old style V5? I am looking at a bike that has been off the road for 20 years and the log book has not been updated.

Cheers

The Classic Biker Bar / Importing a bike into France
« on: September 16, 2005, 06:21:51 PM »
Guys,
does anyone have any experience of importing a classic bike into France.  A contact of mine is trying to buy a Norton (from me!) but is finding it difficult to find his way through the French administration.  This must be a regular practice.  Can anyone offer any advice?
Thanks
Nigel.

Classic Motorcycle Sport / Motorcycle racing at Gatwick
« on: February 09, 2008, 02:44:57 AM »
Here is a request from Bill Haylor:

In the course of writing the story of Crawley & District Motorcycle Club, I'm searching for someone who has knowledge of Jack Surtees (Farther of John) and Frank Sheene (Father of Barry). They both raced at Gatwick Racecourse in 1939 before the expansion of the Airport"

Frank Sheene is very unwell with Senile Dementia in Australia and cannot assist. Anyone have a contact with John Surtees?

Identify these bikes! / What is this spring from?
« on: November 10, 2009, 10:51:26 AM »
Hi,
can anyone help me?  I've been clearing out my garage and I have come across a few bits that I cannot work out...  I've asked all of my contacts and have drawn only a blank, so I thought I'd turn to the guys who really know...

It's a spring with a flat profile, about 9" in length with a square base as you can see in the pictures.

Any ideas?

Thanks in anticipation.....

Identify these bikes! / Russian  Works Racing Bike?
« on: November 04, 2009, 09:43:59 PM »
Can anyone help one of the visitors to the site identify this bike?

"On one of my trips around  the South Coast I took a few photos of this what I am told is a Works racing Russian Motorcycle imported by the Neval Importers in 1978/9.  The bike is 125cc and from what I am told there were 6 made, this one is number 6 and there are the bones of number 5 which has a cantilever frame.  The headstock plate has 1979 year and number 6 stamped. There is also the symbol of what looks like a flying bird "

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks
