Not only that you can modify spoked wheels to take tubeless as I did on my Tiger 955i. As Rex says I do ride older bikes with spoked wheels / tubes but also like the security of tubeless.

And who are you calling stupid?

ps some pics of sealing....

Very nice too. 3mm spoke protrusion sounds fine to me, just trim them off with an angle grinder.

At last ,a dry day and off we go. The gearbox is described as close ratio, wow they were not kidding. No real idea of speed as no speedo or rev counter. All was going really well untill the rather dodgy thread on the gear change connector rod pulled out !! back home in 1st gear. Some smoke but not worth chasing a sub for. Geoff  PS 84 years off the road for the bike  55 years for me on two wheels!!

Ah, so it's not  spoked wheel vs mag wheels, but tubed vs tubeless.
Thankfully not a choice I have to make as all my bikes (and any I would buy in the future) would have tyres and tubes fitted by virtue of their age. Haven't you got a Norton of some sort? Does it make you windy riding that on tubed tyres?
Personally I wouldn't try and repair any sort of flat by the roadside...that's what Mr Samsung is for.

You weren't behind me when I had one in the back wheel of the Commando doing 60 on a dual carriageway. The bloke following me said he was convinced I'd lose it but managed to stop safely.

Spoked wheels don't cause punctures (of course) but when a tube is punctured it often lets go catastrophically as on my Norton and the spokes just let the air out in a bang. Tubeless tyres rarely if ever go down as fast. And of course if and when a tubeless is pierced it can often be fixed in situ without recourse to tyre levers etc which at my age is a workshop only job.

Spoked wheels cause punctures? Who knew? Now you tell me after (ahem ahem) decades of riding old spokey wheel bikes.
This is sure to call fate, but the only flat I've ever had when out of the road was on a Yahama with cast wheels. Go figure, as our US cousins like to say.

Yes, he'll be able to spend many happy hours by the roadside fixing punctures.....

This is my tastefully(?) modded XBR500. Used a CX500 tank and a locally modified seat. The Goldie pattern silencer gives a nice deep tone but no twitter sadly. I decided against spoked wheels for the above reason - not to mention cost!
