1955 T100 paint question.
« on: February 13, 2009, 01:43:34 AM »
Hello, I am restoring a 55' Triumph T100.  I am trying to determine the finish of the bolts securing the rear sproket & front brake drum to the hubs.  Some examples have them plated and some examples have them painted black.  Would anyone have an original or know what the factory finish was.
Regards.
Gary.

I think the original finish would have been cadmium plate. I think this is outlawed now for h&s reasons. The modern finish is zinc but that is too bright for our needs. I have used humbrol matt grey to replicate the finish bikes that I have restored.

OK thanks Hunter.   I purchased a copy cad kit and will see how close I can match the cad look.  It may end up brighter than desired but will hopefully at least achieve a uniform look.
