spare parts
« on: October 20, 2009, 09:01:21 AM »
Hi all who are watching. Well now with the help from this site i have identified my bike. A 1935 5/1 Triumph. Now does anyone know where parts can be obtained for this model of bike.

Where do you live in OZ? Before doing anything to such a complete and original bike I'd be getting myself as much technical info as possible, workshop manual, factory literature, etc, plus a set of Whitworth spanners so I wouldn't be rounding off perfectly serviceable nuts and bolts.
I'd then be joining my local vintage or classic motorcycle club and asking around for who does what locally.
Meanwhile you can be giving the bike a good clean and polish plus a new set of tyres and grease up the front forks.
Bikes in good original condition are much admired. Yours is halfway there already. The last thing you want to do is pull it apart and have a pile of bits and pieces.
Cheers,

I am in the process of obtaining as much literature about the bike as I can. I have also found out that the engine still turns over smoothly and has compression so with a bit of a clean up it may even start. Wont fully know how far I need to go with the re-build until I get it here ans clean it up. Probably going to be the weekend after next. I live in Wollongong. Know of any good vintage bike clubs in that area.

A quick riffle through the Club Notices section of "Just Bikes" shows the Illawarra CMCC, contact Trevor Dukes, PO Box 226, Warilla, NSW, 2582 and also gives a phone number, (02) 4297 3445.
That should be a good starting point. Good luck.
