BSA STARFIRE
« on: September 15, 2013, 05:00:58 AM »
Running without battery. Turn the key fully down and engine starts, in emergency position. The key doesn,t turn off the engine however. I have to disconnect sparkplug wire to turn off. Any suggestions?

Ground the coil l t  thru a kill button on the bars,or fit a hidden switch in the coil circuit, which may deter thieves.Regards John.

Was the bike originally intended to be turned off by returning the key to the off position.

Could be trouble inside your key switch. Can you try another borrowed one to check?

YES, I will try the switch from my BSA Victor Special. Hopefully, just an old switch that needs to be replaced.
