Hi Leon,
I know the Simplex shock-absorving which used to be put on Griffon and Alcyon motorcycles.
Concerning the origin of this fork is a little bit confused. I talk about this with one of the most specialist in Vintage motorcycles made in France, M. Bourdache, because there were two marks which patented the same type of shock-absorbing : L'idéale (in France) and Condor Patent Ferdegabel (in Switzerland). As far as I know, nobody has found the answer to the question : Who did it first?
One thing is sure : It was successful part because a lot of marks of Motorcycles proposed in their catalogues as an option (in attachment You'll find some pictures of Motorcycles of different marks with it : Moto Rêve, Terrot, Motosacoche, Peugeot...).
