how do you check if the coil is working correctly  on a d1 bantam thanks

If it sparks nicely and your bantam runs nicely ?

Failing that, I seem to recall you can flash 6v from a torch battery across it somehow and see if it sparks.
I think you can even wire in the battery to get it running - for a wee while.

The details are a little rusty however, it has been a while since I played with a (very ) tired little bantam.
Oddly enough, a wico pacy points setup/housing emerged from the rubble here just recently - without any points though.

R is being polite. It’s very easy to check any old two-stroke coil. You do it by weight. If it floats in water it’s okay. If it sinks it’s not.
In short there is NO 100% trustworthy coil test. No if’s, no but’s, no maybe’s. For your own sanity you just automatically fit a new coil and condenser to any old Brit two-stroke that graces your garage. It just comes with the territory.

ignition now fixed  got new coil and condenser  starting easy ,thanks for the advice
