BSA M20
« on: June 13, 2007, 03:37:59 AM »
hi, very cool site.

I'm picking up a BSA M20 and am hoping someone can help with the year of the bike. The frame number is YM20 1313, the motor number is YM20 189 (or 182) and has BBR stamped underneath. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks, it's newer than i thought. It's a basket case but am getting it really cheap. The real problem is I'm in Uganda and will be for the next 2 years and parts will be impossible to find.

L.A.B, thanks. I'll check out those sites.

devidoldmoto, it has a springer on the front. It's like this picture, but seems to have originally been red.

Yes this is possible, in the 1948 brochure catalogue the BSA M20 is also sold with the fork of the old model ( with the spring), as that of your attached photo.

The finishes for 1948 are: Black, matt silver and chromium.
Alternative: Devon Red and chromium tank and whells.

If you want some detailed photos I have a perfectly BSA M20 under original conditions.

Thanks for all your help. Detailed pics would be nice as long as they aren't too big (I'm on dialup!). Since i'm in Uganda and the bike is missing a lot of parts I think I will store it until I go back to Canada. The guy also has a Triumph T100 that was running not so long ago so I'll get that as well. I should be able to get that one on the road! I've also located an AJS 350 that is currently being ridden and will go on a road trip soon to check it out.
