QD Wheels 68 Bonnie

Hi

        Can anybody tell if my 68 bonnie which I am getting back to it's standard looks, which has a QD (quickly detachable) rear wheel, is a standard fitting.
There is some play side ways which may be the bearings or spline.  Has anybody got any experience of these wheels.

According to the 1968 parts book =Yes.

I can't help you with the "experience" bit though.

Although I would always try to help with part numbers and parts identification etc..

             Thanks LAB you can get all the parts for the Wheel set up apart from the Hub which may force me to chance it to a fixed wheel if the splines on the hub are worn to much.

The UK models had the QD wheel as an optional extra. Regarding the sideways play, I would firstly look at the swinging arm bushes for play, wheel bearings next. Back and forth movement on the spline shows wear, in either the hub splines or the brake drum splines, hopefully it's the brake drum as new splined hubs are unavailable. It should be a snug fit with no movement.

TBS is of course correct! The QD wheel was optional, I should have checked the parts book more carefully!

         I seem to have sorted my QD wheels out as the rubber sealing ring was missing, not bad for a fully restored bike bought from a dealer I can add it to the list of either missing bits or bodged up parts & crossed threads.  All is never what it seems even if the bike gleams in the sun and looks a knock out.
