1965 cyclone history
« on: February 23, 2010, 03:04:29 AM »
Hi again
I am looking for any history for my 1965 cyclone. Such as, how many were produced and hoe many were sent to the USA. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks, GARYL from Missoula,Mt. USA

Some quick initial research (i.e. a look in a couple of books I have) show that the A50 Cyclone was produced for two years only - 1964 & 1965.
There are loads of very knowledgeable people on this forum who will provide you with a lot of further information.
In the meantime welcome, & can you post some pictures for us to look at please.

The BSA owners club data shows only 1964 for the US  -   http://www.bsaownersclub.co.uk/Engine_Frame_Listing.html.                      I would contact them they are the experts. All the best with the bike.

Thanks Goldy and Justin for the info, it's great to get started on this forum. I will start taking pics very soon and look forward to being active on this forum. I belong to another for my KLR and get tons of great info on that one and am sure this one will be as good or better.
Thanks Again

Still looking for history on my cyclone, emailed the secretary of the bsa owners club but haven't recieved any reply. Any other leads for me to follow would be much appreciated. No pecs yet, the bike is up on my lift with front and rear wheels, tank and fenders off. Ordered news tires today, the ones on it are the original dunlop k70s. Trying to work some on it at least four nights a week. Thanks in advance for any leads.

It may be a bit extreme but BSA Twins and Triples and BSA Twins Restoration by Roy Bacon are worth a read.  Neither have much general information about the Cyclone, but either will give you some handy info such as paint colours/codes and frame/engine numbers.  The Restoration book is particularly handy as it gives carburettor settings, rim/tyre sizes, cam numbers, valve sizes and that more of that sort of info.

I haven't had much to do with unit BSAs unfortunately, but they're a fine bike and I hope you get plenty of enjoyment out of yours.

Regards,
Blue
