remove stator lead 1968 T120R

Hi

I'm changing my primary chain and clutch plates today.

I've just got stuck removing the stator lead. My manual says:

'withdraw the stator from over the mounting studs and withdraw the lead from the sleeve nut'.

The lead feels pretty tight - can I just give it sharp pull?? How does it fit on and how will I replace it?

The manual goes on to say:

'If any difficulty is encountered, unscrew the sleeve nut and the lead can then be withdrawn easily'.

That doesn't look so easy to me. The sleeve nut is deep inside and I don't have any spanner that can easily reach it.

Any suggestions would be very welcome.

I take it you have disconnected the stator wires at the back of the primary *cover and made sure the wire isn't either snagged up or tied?

Is the rubber boot still on the joint between the wire and the sleeve nut? Or has the joint been blocked up with gasket sealant?

Novice ain't strong enough a word to describe me!!

Thanks for that.  Have now got the stator off.  I wriggled around underneath the bike, found a couple of cable ties, which when snipped gave me enough loose wire to get the stator off.

That'll do for the day. I'm off to watch the footie.
