The Deemster?

I wasn't specifically thinking of the Deemster! At least it was different.

I read Morley's write up about their trials/enduro/motocross machines and figured I'd happily try one.

Every company has their embarrassments. You rarely hear Notron owners bragging about the Jubilee or Triumph owners enthusing about  the ‘bathtub’ models. Nobody hits the bullseye every time.

You're somewhat behind the times there.
Those little Nortons (Electra especially) are now recognised for the useful little bikes they really are, and Triumphs (which originally had bathtubs) go for a lot more if they're still fitted.
Clearly the old factories were far-sighted, in reality..
